Dr Albert Sii Hieng Wong

Dr Albert Sii Hieng Wong is the Head of the Neurosurgery Department at the Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. After he got his FRACS Neurosurgery in 1999 from Australia, he returned to work at the Sarawak General Hospital from 2000. Initially he was alone as a single Neurosurgeon for 4 years. He has also done a spine fellowship at the Toronto Western Hospital Canada. I believe Neurosurgeons have much to offer to the community as we are usually the end carers for severe head injury and malignant brain tumour patients. We have to perform emergency cases 24/7. In addition we have to innovate in times of needs especially when working in a developing country. Today the Department here has 6 Neurosurgeons. Each of us has a special interest in a specific subspecialty. Hence my motto is never give up even if sometimes we have to put the carts before the horses. This also push us to innovate and be inventive.

Dr. DONG Van-He is the dynamic leading neurosurgeon in Vietnam. He is the leading neurosurgeon in many fields of neurosurgery in Vietnam such as minimally invasive neurosurgeon surgery (since 2005), endoscopic surgery, skull base surgery, pituitary surgery. He performed around 550-600 brain surgeries every year. At present, Dr. DONG Van-He is the director of the largest neurosurgical center in Vietnam.

Professor Dr Dharmendra Ganesan

He is a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon as well as the Head of Neurosurgery Services at UMMC. He is a MBBS graduate of the UM. After obtaining the FRCS (Edinburgh) and (Ireland) in 2001, as well as completing his Masters in Surgery at UM in 2002, he began his neurosurgical training in the at UMMC and went on to complete his clinical training in Adddenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK. He passed the intercollegiate exam in UK and obtained an FRCS in Neurosurgery in June 2006. He continued to sub-specialize in Complex Spine, pursuing a fellowship at Addenbrookes in Cambridge and completing the Cleveland Spine Review course.

Professor Suresh Nair is the current President of the Neurological Society of India (NSI). He is also the Secretary of the World Federation of Skull Base Surgery . He was the past Dean and Chairman of Neurosurgery of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Science and Technology (SCTIMST), in Trivadrum, India which is one of the few autonomous National University Hospitals under Goverment of India. He is an accomplished Surgeon in Posterior Fossa Surgery and has operated upon more than 1000 CP angle surgeries which includes 835 Vestibular Schwannomas. His areas of interest are Cerebellopontine Angle Tumors, Petro-clival Meningiomas, Trigeminal Schwannomas, Clival Chordomas and Spinal Intramedullary Tumors.

Professor Dr Syed Ather Enam

Dr. Enam is a US Board certified Neurosurgeon and is Professor of Neurosurgery and Chair, Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. He has been awarded several accolades and honors for his work both in USA and in Pakistan, including Sitara-e-Imtiaz, one of the highest honor given to a civilian in Pakistan. Dr. Enam has a strong background in basic science research with a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University, USA. He is a life member of Sigma Xi, a scientific research honor society, as well as founding president of Pakistan Society of Basic and Applied Neuroscience. He is actively involved in many clinical and basic science research projects and has authored more than 100 manuscripts and articles.

Professor Dr Shozo Yamada

Professor Dr Shozo Yamada has mainly devoted himself to treat and research pituitary tumors. He has operated more than 4000 patients with pituitary or parasellar lesions and still operated approximately 350 cases per year. He is also very interested in pituitary research and has written many papers in corporation with many endocrinologists and pathologists.

Professor Dr Toshiyuki Takahashi

Professor Dr William T. Couldwell

Professor Dr William T. Couldwell was assistant professor of neurological surgery at the University of Southern California from 1991 to 1995, and became professor and chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at New York Medical College, as well as program director of neurosurgical residency in 1997. He is professor and chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Utah, as position he assumed in 2001.

Professor Dr Zamzuri Idris

Prof Dr Zamzuri Idris had graduated from University of Wales College of Medicine Cardiff UK (1994), then pursued his postgraduate career in Neurosurgery locally at USM (2005). In 2007, he completed his fellowship programme in Gent Belgium under Prof J. Caemert for Neuroendoscopy and Prof D. Van Roost for Functional Neurosurgery. He is the Head of Neuroscience Department. His major interests are in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery (Neuroendoscopy), Precision Radiation Therapy, Brain Trauma, Epilepsy, Brain Mapping and Brain Stimulation. He published papers locally and internationally and wrote 8 chapters in the international books.

Professor Dr Zhang Hongqi

Born on Jan 29th, 1970. Graduated from Beijing Medical University and Pekin Union Medical College. Professor and Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department, Xuanwu Hospital. The clinical and basic research focuses on the interventional and surgical therapy for brain and spinal cord vascular diseases. Chairman of Chinese Federation of Interventional clinical Neurosciences (CFITN). Member-at–Large in World Federation of Interventional Neuroradiology (WFITN). Executive member of the Asian-Australian Society of Interventional Neuroradiology (AAFITN).
